Com uma fonte de energia n\u00e3o excessivamente potente (golpe de martelo de impacto), as ondas s\u00edsmicas s\u00e3o geradas e registradas em uma s\u00e9rie de esta\u00e7\u00f5es (geofones) distribu\u00eddas no solo. Ao estudar as diferentes formas de onda e seus tempos de percurso, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel obter imagens s\u00edsmicas do subsolo, que s\u00e3o ent\u00e3o relacionadas aos n\u00edveis geot\u00e9cnicos.<\/p><p>Usando a t\u00e9cnica s\u00edsmica de refra\u00e7\u00e3o, uma imagem da subsuperf\u00edcie \u00e9 obtida em termos do campo de velocidade s\u00edsmica (ondas P). Sua finalidade \u00e9 determinar a estrutura do subsolo, bem como conhecer a situa\u00e7\u00e3o de um substrato rochoso hipot\u00e9tico. Ela tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 usada para estudos de cisalhamento.<\/p><p>Com a an\u00e1lise de tomografia s\u00edsmica, as varia\u00e7\u00f5es do modelo, como camadas de baixa velocidade ou varia\u00e7\u00f5es laterais, n\u00e3o s\u00e3o limita\u00e7\u00f5es. Por meio de um processo de invers\u00e3o iterativo, o modelo mais adequado \u00e9 obtido.<\/p><p>Outra possibilidade de estudo s\u00edsmico \u00e9 por meio da an\u00e1lise de dispers\u00e3o de ondas superficiais (MASW). Com esse m\u00e9todo, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel obter um modelo unidimensional, ou gerar se\u00e7\u00f5es do terreno, da distribui\u00e7\u00e3o das velocidades da onda S com a profundidade. Esse tipo de medi\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 particularmente \u00fatil para conhecer a distribui\u00e7\u00e3o dos n\u00edveis geot\u00e9cnicos em profundidade, mesmo quando h\u00e1 camadas &#8220;macias&#8221; intercaladas. Tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 usado para obter m\u00f3dulos de deforma\u00e7\u00e3o din\u00e2mica do solo e, em geral, para a classifica\u00e7\u00e3o de Vs30 em estudos de risco s\u00edsmico.<\/p><p>Com o teste Down-hole, tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 poss\u00edvel obter os m\u00f3dulos de deforma\u00e7\u00e3o el\u00e1stica din\u00e2mica do solo.
